Dubai is seldom a monotonous city. From its extravagant entertainment parks to its countless tourist destinations, Dubai is a sightseer’s paradise. Yet among all its wonders, the city makes room for one more spectacle, Global Village. The conclusion of summer reintroduces this beloved park to the public. More specifically, the 2021-22 season commences on 26 October and is expected to conclude on 10 April 2022. However, how will Global Village, a local treasure, fare against a global pandemic?

This gargantuan 17.2 million sq ft cultural and entertainment project welcomes over 5 million people annually. Which begs the question, just how safe is it? As of August 2021, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) suffered a total of 725,000 Covid-19 cases and 2050 deaths. However, there is a silver lining in these pandemic statistics, and it’s the fact that 70% of the nation is fully vaccinated, meaning the UAE is the world’s most vaccinated country. Although this is great news, I implore you to stay vigilant during such dire times. Global Village has also implemented precautionary measures visitors must follow such as:
- Guests must wear their face masks at all times.
- Guests should maintain a minimum of two-meter physical distancing from others
- Any person experiencing symptoms such as coughing or fever should avoid visiting the park.
- Elderly guests and those with chronic conditions are advised to avoid crowded areas during their visit.

To further ease your mind, park facilities will be disinfected thoroughly every night after the end of day. The park also has a fully equipped Prime Hospital Clinic on-hand for all your medical needs. If you like, you can also take a PCR test.
So how does Global Village, a local treasure, fare against a global pandemic? With all the measures taken to prevent the spread of covid, I feel confident in saying that the general public should have no fear in visiting the park as long as all guidelines are met. The descending curve of Covid-19 cases in UAE is also enough to put you at ease. However, I plead that visitors carry their own sanitizers and be extremely mindful of others, especially children and the elderly.
