Communication – From texting to talking.

It’s been a typical week so far. You’ve had a fight with your best friend earlier and now feel miserable about it.

You take up that vibrating phone next to you, and text her a single word – SORRY.

You then try and do other tasks but every 3 seconds, u keep checking to see if she’s replied.

After waiting for more than 4 hours, she has finally replied – It’s alright.

You think it’s sorted and get along happily with your life.

To many of the readers reading this text, the conversation might seem as a normal occurrence. But we need to realise that owing to texting, millions of emotions and thoughts are lost per day.

Connecting with those far from your reach, has become a reality for our generation, but can we take a moment to wonder – how many of us care to connect with those within our reach ?? If you claim that the person you text everyday is your best friend, then consider atleast talking to them once a week over an audio/video call.

Don’t make an excuse of time constraints as to why you text.  If u want to talk to someone, you can and should make time. We live in a world where people think that the answer to How Are You – should always be FINE. If we don’t bother to reach out and communicate with those who are around us – How do we expect to create a society that is mentally healthy.

While texting on the phone helps us to connect with people who have different schedules and plans, talking to people has an undeniable magic of it’s own. It helps us to realise the person’s state of mind by reading their body language, their mood by reading their tone and their love by seeing their actions.

It is time we together re-ignite the magic of our conversations and relations.

When was the last time you had a heartfelt conversation with your family and friends ?

When was the last time you spoke – to simple ask them how they are ?

It’s time each one of us takes an effort to talk and not just text.
