BLACKPINK was the first-ever South Korean Girl Group to enter and top Billboard’s Emerging Artists chart and to top the Billboard’s World Digital Song Sales chart three times. They have broken numerous records throughout their career.

After their debut in August 2016, this is the first time they released a full album besides releasing singles and mini-albums. The album is named ‘The Album’ with the title track ‘Lovesick Girls’ which was released on Friday, October 2. The tracklist of the album consists a total of 8 songs, including songs featuring artists Cardi B and Selena Gomez. The title song ‘Lovesick Girls’ is an upbeat song with a deep meaning, perfect to sing in karaoke with a group of friends. This song also has a very catchy beat and choreography which is satisfying to the eye. I would definitely say that they should’ve released a full album much earlier, all songs on the album were bops, and would definitely not think twice to play on loop. The concept for this song was heartbreak.

The members sing lyrics that show their mixed feelings toward these situations, yet they come together as a group and overcome this pain by enjoying and finding happiness. The song ends with the lyric “But we’re still looking for love” this shows that even after being hurt they still have the hope of finding happiness. This song also reminds me of their music from the past which everyone enjoyed and sung along too. This song is something that many fans can relate to. The set of the MV is very captivating and attractive which combined with the visuals of the members gives a bright and beautiful scene to watch. Lisa and Jennie’s rap is also very addicting and catchy which is making me and probably other fans also wanting to learn the lyrics to vibe along.

Every tiny detail in the video adds up to how it looks so perfect in the end. The combination of English and Korean words in the lyrics also brings out the best in the song. Listening to this song, I imagine myself on a long drive in a deserted place listening to music playing loud in the car as the wind blows across my face. This song made me feel different feelings and would’ve also made other fans feel the same.
