Ashraf Ghani surfaces in the UAE Helpless from the civil war within his country, former President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani had fled the country and left his people with lots of questions. His fellow Afghans criticized him greatly and so did people around the world. But, the UAE has welcomed him and his family to seek refuge over here on humanitarian grounds.

The UAE is known for their kindness when providing a safe house for overthrown leaders. They did this in the past with the late former prime minister of Pakistan Benazir Bhutto in the 90s.

At 9pm on Wednesday, the former president uploaded a statement on his Facebook Page addressing the situation, talking about his side and clearing the rumors that were spread online. He was evacuated from the presidential palace after consulting a few of his officials. He said he had to leave the country with just a salwar kameez (traditional clothing) and one waistcoat. He had left the country after an agreement with the Taliban to cease fire and spread peace. His main purpose for leaving the country was to avoid bloodshed.

The former president also denies leaving the country with millions of dollars and states that these claims are completely false.

According to The National, Mr. Ashraf Ghani has stated that he plans to return to Afghanistan as the Taliban had opened fire on protesters in the provinces of Khost and Nangarhar on Wednesday.
